On
Sunday, May 4th, join us as we Sprint to $1-million!
The 8th Annual
David Bloom Memorial Spring Sprint at Brampton's Professor's Lake,
is poised to be the best Sprint yet, following phenomenal events
over the past seven years that have raised $850,000 for brain
tumour education, research and patient support.
We began planning
the Brampton Spring Sprint in the Fall of 2000, with the goal
of raising $1-million in 10 years. In 2001, our inspiration for
the event - David Bloom - passed away just a few days before the
first Sprint after an 18-month battle with a cancerous brain tumour.
We renamed the inaugural event the David Bloom Memorial Spring
Sprint (DBMSS) and with your support, this year we're hoping to
surpass $1-million raised in David's name two years ahead of schedule!
An estimated
55,000 Canadians are currently living with a brain tumour and
10,000 more are diagnosed every year. All funds from the sprint
go to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC), a national
organization that provides support and education to the general
public and those affected by brain tumours. It is the mission
of the BTFC to reach every Canadian affected by a brain tumour
with support, education and information, and funding brain tumour
research. An independent charitable organization, BTFC is funded
entirely through donations from individuals, corporations, and
employee groups as well as through memorial gifts, planned giving
and special events."

For those
more looking for a greater challenge, there will once again be
a 10km run. But, you don't have to be a runner to participate.
Some will choose to run, jog or in-line skate along the path,
while hundreds of others will walk the trail.
